Jerry Falwell says Teletubbies are just as bad as dirty gay porn (CNN) --

The city known for hippies and radical politics is now championing the cause of Teletubby Tinky Winky, the children's TV character Rev. Jerry Falwell recently attacked as a homosexual role model.

Berkeley councilwoman Polly Armstrong has drawn up a resolution backing the purple, purse-carrying Teletubby. The resolution, expected to be passed Tuesday, states, "Long live Tinky Winky and long live freedom from self-righteousness!"

The president of Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Co., which licenses the Teletubbies in the United States, says the support is appreciated, but political statements really don't have a place in the gentle world of Teletubbies.

"He's not gay. He's not straight. He's just a character in a children's series," Kenn Viselman said. "I think that we should just let the Teletubbies go and play in Teletubbyland and not try to define them."
